Diva's Weekly Challenge #246: "Monotangle Trees"

This week's challenge is a Guest post on Laura's blog by CZT® Dilip Patel.
He is from Bangalore,India and I am so privileged to be one of his students.
He wanted us to choose any tangle pattern of our liking and create a tree using only the chosen tangle over strings representing a tree.

Here are my tiles.

First tile with CZT® Sandy Bartholomew's pattern Mumsy

Second attempt with Zentangle®-original tangle: Pokeleaf

Let's keep tangling!

Diva's Weekly Challenge #245 - "Back to Basics - Hollibaugh"

This week, Laura wanted us to use the Zentangle®original tangle pattern Hollibaugh.

I have been wanting to try out this new tutorial on creating Jems-kind of look using watercolors. This tutorial was shared on the Zentangle® group by Kae Yoshino.

It did not come out as shown in tutorial as I used watercolor paints instead of color pencils as required by the tutorial. But I am happy that I tried something new!
Here's my tile.

"It's A String Thing!" # 119

In this week's "It's a String Thing" #119, Adele wanted to mark the 100th anniversary of the iconic bottle design of the Coca-Cola Company.

She selected TanglePatterns String 011 (by Yamit Fridman) whose lines suggest a bottle shape.
Patterns  are
100 by CZT® Adele Bruno
Bublz by Lori Byerly
Ripples by Helen Williams

I decided to use 100 along my string line. 100 was easy to draw. That is a stepout that is so simple to remember and so many variations.
I had a tough time deciding whether I wanted to put Bublz inside the bottle shape or Ripples to look like the glass. Then I decided that since Adele selected Ripples because it reminded her of the feel of the bottle, Ripples it would be.. I could not stop with the Ripples so left with very less space for Bublz..

Here's my tile.

Diva's Weekly Challenge #244 - "Tripoli Triptastic"

This week, Laura wanted us to use the Zentangle®original tangle pattern TRIPOLI.
Frankly, I have not used this tangle much. But the step-out page suggests that a lot of different variations are possible. Both variations in my tile come from there.

Here's my tile.

"It's A String Thing!" #118

In this week's "It's a String Thing" #118, Adele wanted us mark the oddity in the calendar year (pun intended).
Friday was 11/13/15.It was also ODD DAY, the sixth and final time this century that the date is a continuous sequence of odd numbers.

We had to use Joyce Burns' String 017 (odd number again!!)
along with the 11th, 13th, and 15th tangles listed on TanglePatterns.com:

Acrosstick  by Ed Gucker, CZT
Afterglo  by Carole Ohl, CZT
Ahh by Maria Thomas, Zentangle® co-founder

Here's my tile. If you count the no.of times I used each pattern, you will find I used odd numbers. I used 9 squares in Acrosstick, 5 of Afterglo and 15 of Ahh.
How's that for celebrating Odd numbers!!

PS: Don't forget to check the date at the bottom of the tile.

Diva's Weekly Challenge#243 : "Just a tiny taste"

Diva says "The challenge is to INTENTIONALLY LEAVE THE MAJORITY OF YOUR TILE EMPTY.... giving the tile just a tiny taste of tangle.
For this challenge, I'd say try to leave over have of the tile blank... like 60-70%"

I have used Diva Dance and here is my tile.

Diva's Weekly Challenge #242: "New Official Tangle: Gourdgeous"

This week on Diva's blog, Laura wanted us to tangle the new official Zentangle® pattern 'GOURDGEOUS' released in the Zentangle® newsletter last week. This tangle kind of flows so smoothly on the tile.. Its so much fun.. And you get all sorts of gourds and pumpkins in the end!!

Here is my first tile.

The second tile is Halloween themed. Halloween hangover I guess..
