Joey's weekly tangle challenge #54

Spring has just started here in South India. We have a festival 'Ugadi' marking the arrival of spring and we celebrated it last week.

And in this week's  Joey's challenge#54, Joey wanted us to tangle dust bunny to mark the arrival of spring and the cleaning associated with it.

Dust Bunny is a Zentangle® pattern by CZT® Margaret Bremner

I have kept it really simple but I am glad I got to learn a new pattern. Well here's my tile.

Joey's weekly tangle challenge #53

Joey's weekly tangle challenge#53 was to tangle a border print. We had to tangle a straight border and tangle an all over design as Step 1 and in Step 2, repeat the finished piece to create a "border print fabric".

I selected Zentangle® original tangle - TRIPOLI for the border. I used Cindy Pope’s Zentangle® pattern - ME THREE and Zentangle® original tangle - MOOKA for the all-over design.

This challenge was really exciting because I had to do my tile 3 times over because the patterns on the edges were never lining up correct when I tried to repeat the finished piece.
I had to use MS-Paint to repeat the pieces and never got it right. But the third attempt seemed good so I went ahead and colored the tile. There are still little gaps between the tiles but I am satisfied with the result.

"That's new to Me" challenge#12 - Letter O

This week on "That's new to Me" challenge#12, the random letter was 'O'.
I selected ONAMATO which is Zentangle®-original tangle , OZZIE by Linda Dawson and OOLO by CZT® Amelie Liao

I have done Onamato before but the other two tangle patterns were new to me. But I love Onamato the most!! It some how brings an ornamental look to the tile which I love!

And I have started coloring my tiles a lot nowadays..

ONAMATO, OZZIE, OOLO, STARAWN

Hope you liked the tile.

"That's New to Me!" Weekly Challenge#11 - Letter B

"That's New to Me!" Weekly Challenge is helping me learn at least 2 new tangles every week..  this week the random letter was B.
I started with Zentangle®-original tangle-Bunzo.  Really easy one since it's just one shape ' )' repeated..
Other one was B'Twined by CZT® Pegi Schargel. I have combined both into single tile..  I had great time coloring the tile.

BUNZO, B'TWINED

These are the tiles before and after color..Let me know which one you loved better.

I have also always wanted to try Borbz by CZT® Rita Nikolajeva, even downloaded the steps but never tried it...
The inspiration for this tile's layout came from Oliver Kraus'  tile on Zentangle® group page on Facebook..

BORBZ

Hope you liked the tiles..
Waiting for next week's challenge..

Joey's weekly tangle challenge #51

For the first of two St. Patrick's Day themed tangle challenges, Joey wanted us to use Clove tangle in String 138

The last two days have been quite exhausting with all hospital visits and the meds.. But tangle Clove by Faith Cohen was quite easy to pick up..

I could not spend much time on this tile..but still here goes..

I've used Clove by Faith Cohen and Axlexa by Henrike Bratz

Maybe I will do this challenge again sometime later..

"That's New to Me!" Weekly Challenge #10 - Letter A

This week on "That's New to Me" challenge#10, the random letter to use was 'A'. The only tangles starting with 'A' I had used till now were Arcflower and Auraknot. So I knew I had wide range of options. Choosing which tangles to use took me one whole day using Tanglepatterns.com ( when I see something interesting I happen to wander off from what I was initially there for!!). Finally I chose Arukas  and Axlexa.

Arukas by Molly Hollibaugh is an Zentangle®-original tangle. I never tried it since the tangle looked so complicated. But when I tried out the steps couple of times in my workbook, I found that all that was needed was total concentration. I sometimes tangle when watching TV, definitely not to be done when using Arukas :)

Axlexa by Henrike Bratz is a really fun and easy tangle. It is quite handy to fill up the tile too.. Was wondering why I hadn't tried this tangle before..

Since my treatments have started again, I had to visit the hospital today. I had to wait for 2 hours. so guess what?  I manged to complete 2 tiles.

Tile 1: Arukas By Molly Hollibaugh , Axlexa by Henrike Bratz

When I was done with my first one, I began thinking how it would look if the spokes from the initial circle for Arukas were spiral rather than straight lines. I like the spiral look though one of spokes dint come out nicely.

Hope you like my work.

Next will be working on Joeys weekly challenge

That's new to me weekly challenge -letter H and Joey's weekly tangle challenge #50 using Vano

For That's new to me weekly challenge#9 , we had to use tangle starting with letter H.
I decided to try out Holly by Linda Dawson and Holiday Ornament by Suzanne McNeill.

I wasn't too happy with how it turned out and decided that I would try it out again. I had started to love the Holiday ornaments tangle by then..
So when I saw Joey's weekly tangle challenge#50 was to use Vano by Hanneke Seiben , I combined both challenges into single tile..
I used Vano to embellish the Holiday ornaments instead of Printemp tangle. Learning Vano was so much fun. I had to get my freehand circles right first. I have some 3-4 pages of my workbook filled with circles..
This is the resulting tile with Holiday Ornaments and Vano .. Hope you like it..
